Rejection

Well this week has been hectic. Running all over the place getting everything straight and trying to help everyone to get to church. We are doing good, this week was full of lots of rejections and lots of people not progressing. This week the Celestino Family had their Baptismal interviews and it looks as if 2 will get baptized this week!!! We are trying to work with them so that they can continue progressing and feeling of this love for the gospel that they have felt in these last couple of months. I am super excited for them and hope that this will help the older brother to straighten up so that he can be baptized a little later on!! We are working hard, and seeing a little of the progress we hope that we will see more this up coming week! I love you guys!

I know that I am the worst at this, I need to find a way to write more and to keep you guys more informed. The good thing is you wont miss it as much because there are three Elders now! (not the big topic anymore šŸ˜‰).

President Russell M. Nelson visits Lima Peru missionaries and members

Te damos SeƱor nuestras gracias por un profeta.  Tu profeta.  Nuestra profeta.  Presidente Russell M. Nelson.  Profeta, vidente y revelador.

Well this week has been crazy I am going to put a little bit of the letter I wrote to President so you can at least see a little bit about what is happening with me.

Well this has been an interesting week for us. We started out with lots of fire we had a work visit with Gamarra 2 and Elder Lewis came to our area, we went out to go change the world and we talked with everyone and they were all rejecting us and all of our appointments were falling through so we decided to contact our three people after an appointment fell through, like we had in our focuses for the week! As we were contacting I get a distinct impression to talk to a young man that was 15 years old. We talked with him and started asking him how he was and if we could teach a lesson with his family, he said that he would need to talk with his mom, who just then and then was getting home from work. He called her over and she came looking concerned and asked if everything was alright, we explained the situation and asked if we could share something with them and she rejected us the first time but we insisted and she accepted. We then were able to teach a family of 4 and later on in the lesson their friend came and sat in on the lesson as well. That was our spiritual experience and testimony that if we talk with everyone we will find the elect!

The visit with the Prophet was one and only. I was happy that we made it and that we didnt get lost like the other buses, we may not have been the closest to him but it was a great experience! I felt so priveledged to be able to see him and to hear his powerful words. I know that I can be a witness of his words and his calling as prophet. I will testify of power and of the ways that he can bless the lives of all our investigators.

I felt that it was a meeting that will mark me forever and will help me to become the missionary and the person that God needs me to be in these moments of my life. I felt that he answered my questions and that they know what I needed in these moments. I know that I felt the spirit and I felt of the urgency to go and preach the gospel to everyone that we can. I felt that they really do love God with all of their hearts and they will do all that they can to help us on the way!

I am going to apply the things that they taught. One of the topics that I enjoyed was that he said that in 3 Nephi 12:48 that even Christ wasn’t perfect until he had returned from heaven and was a resurrected glorified being. The thing that we needed to do was not worry so much if we had made a mistake we just need to keep on going until we are perfect! I also liked the teaching to realize my divine potential and work towards attaining it. It was something special to hear and have the blessing to model our lives after you and sister Stauffer and I am going to do better at that. I have listed a lot of the things that you both do and am praying each day for some of those things so that I can be more like you guys later on. I promise to keep striving and doing all that I can even with the things that I have been feeling. We are going to set higher goals in contacting and achieve them as well!

We were able to see the Prophet and his wife, Elder and Sister Stevenson, President Falabella and his wife, Elder Montoya and his wife, and Elder Held and his wife and the 5 mission Presidents in Lima. It was a wild experience, starting off with us almost not making it on time some of the buses got lost thankfully not us but a lot of the buses got there a little late. We sat on some of the last seats so we were far from him but it was a great experience all the less.

We got to hear many of their teachings but the best thing was when the Prophet talked about 3 Nefi 11-30 and about every single chapter and some of the doctrine and revelation behing those chapters! I think that I have to say that sister Nelson was the best or second best speaker her talks were amazing and trully inspiring. I am so happy to be able to explain about the experience that we had, I wish that I could do it a little better than I am right now.

I know that I can testify of the Prophet stronger than ever and explain the things that I have felt as I heard his words! I know that he is the Prophet of God and that he receives revelation for each and everyone of us. I went with a couple of questions and I know that each one of them was answered. I will always testify of his power and of the way that he can and will direct our lives. I dont know if I will be able to explain everything that I felt there but I know that I felt of his love, his guidance, the power of his calling, and the truth of his words. That is about all I can send for this week I love you guys lots!!!!

Hello Family,

Well it was an ineresting week for us! It was really difficult because we got rejected so much... I havent been rejected like that in all of my mission. I think that I have been here so long that everyone just believes that I am Peruvian, so no one is all that interested or maybe I am just losing my touch! The good thing is that I havent lost my ability to get over the hard things fast. This week is going to be amazing we are going to work so hard to be able to baptize a great family, then we will have our Zone conferences on Wednesday or Thursday, and then Saturday we get to have a great visit from our beloved Prophet President Russell M. Nelson in person. I will definitely have a lot to say this next week!!! I am so happy to hear that everything is going so good in your lives and that everyone is growing up without me! Congratulations to Grant for making it through CCM and to Gavin who is leaving this next week here! I am so proud of you guys and hope that you enjoy it as much as I have. I am so happy to have such an amazing family like you guys and for the opportunity to live this life at your sides!!! I love you guys more than I ever have before, which is weird becuase I havent been this far away before... I hope that you know that I will do anything and everything that i need to do to help you guys along and to help us all be a big happy family again! Thank you guys so much for your love and for everything that you all do for me, I love you guys to death!!!! Keep up the great work and keep on striving to be better everyday! I am routing for each and everyone of you!!!!

You Can Only Imagine what is happening here in Peru! I am going Crazy!!!!

Hola

Well this week has come and gone in a flash, This week we had consejo de mision where all the leaders get together and talk about how the mission is going. It was a good experience for us we were able to learn a little bit more about how we are going to help the new missionaries to be more prepared for the things that are to come. We have been trying to figure out the best way to teach them what we have learned in the last year with President and we talked about all of the things that we have learned together and about all of the things that we have gone through together. It was a good but there is a lot more that we need to do in order to get to where we need to be!

I am good sorry about the email. I had technical difficulties. It kicked me out 4 different times so it erased my emails....

I will write it down so that you can see it next week!!!

Hello family,

Wow what a week...

Alright well I got a call on Tuesday Saying that we would be going to the temple the next day and that I had about 2 and a half hours to coordinate everything. That I needed to get food for Sister Coke that is alergic to gluten. Schedule entrevistas for temple Recommends, find transport, get everything ready as far as money and teach Elder Vidal how to get to the Hermanas house so that they could get to the Church safe. We also had to prepare a breakfast and schedule the routes and everything. It was tough work organizing those 14 missionaries in an orderly fashion and with millions of questions and things that were asked we finally got done at about 11 with calling and scheduling everything and I didnt go to sleep until about 12am. Then we woke up at 4:15 to get ready and go get everyone woken up and to the church. With all the streets blocked off and everything shut down it was rough trying to get to the appartments. After all the stress finally died down we were rolling into the heavy traffic at about 6am. I unfortunately wasnt able to sleep with everything rolling around in my head. The good thing is that I got it cleared up enough so that I could have a great experience in the temple.

Everything is going good here in Trebol. We are enjoying everything here. Elder Vidal is really calm and loving, really laid back so I have to make all the decisions again... I dont know why President thinks that I should be the decision maker when everyone knows that I am a very passive aggressive person... Everything has a reason I guess! We are working hard and trying to change the lives of a couple of the families that we are working with namely; Celestino Family, Carlos Osorio, Avaros Family, Cerna Family, and Junior Tuesta. If you could keep them in your prayers as well it would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you all so much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

Alrighty well lets see what we can do here in 15 minutes.

Everything in Trebol is going good. We are working hard to help out the new missionaries and they are doing super well!!! Elder Lewis BYU football player (the tall blonde one) has gotten super good with his spanish and he is improving a lot! He is a super good guy and fun to get to know! Elder Shipp and I had a work visit this week and we got to know each other a lot better! He is going to be playing football at Boise State when he gets back! His spanish is doing ok but he has a good heart and they are doing great things. It was fun to spend the day with him because most people look at me like I am tall, so when a 6'6'' about 280 pound ofensive lineman walks around the corner the people just stare with horror as one of the twin towers walks by!

One of the coolest things that happened this week was that a man that we have been working with for some time, Ruben Dario Castro, was able to get baptized this week! He was going through a bad moment in time. He is a Venezuelan. He and his cousin have been here in Peru for about 10 months. Elder Bumstead and Elder Acarapi were working with Ruben and his cousin (Jose Ramon) and Jose was able to be baptized but ruben said that he wasnt ready. Elder Acarapi and I went to his house and we invited him to read in the book of mormon and something sparked in him. He then went to a Conference two Fridays ago and then Sunday Two weeks ago, again last Sunday and was baptized this Sunday. He is a great guy and him and his Cousin are going to do great things. They are so good. His testimony was super awesome too. He explained about how happy he was and that he was just waiting for this moment to be able to be baptized!

This week my good friend Elder Wells goes home. We have been in the same zone since Pachacutec. It will be sad to see him off, but it will be good for him. He has been a faithful soldier!!!

Much more to report but never enough time.... Well I love you lots!!!

Hello Family,

Well this week has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Time just keeps slipping through my fingers. This week we had Mission Council which was a crazy experience and I felt that it was exactly what I needed. President Stauffer is super inspired and I know that I have been called here because of him. I know that he has been one of the biggest influences of my mission and he has been a great guide. He talked a little bit about foreordination and about the things that we were able to learn with Elder Falabella. It was a way good experience.

This week we were able to go out and work hard with a lot of our investigators so that they could be able to come to church and have a good experience. This week we had 7 souls come to church which was chaos for us. We were running around the whole meeting teaching lessons and making sure that they had a good experience. We didnt make it to any of the classes and we werent able to do a couple of the basic needs but it was still a great experience and it was very fun running all over.

We are doing good here in Gamarra. I am a happy missionary and we are going to be even happy with all the things that we have planned this month of September! I am super excited for the things that are going to come and to be able to work side by side with Elder Acarapi! I love you guys, I love this work, and I love my God. I hope that you all have a great week and that you can all learn and grow a bunch!

Sincerely,
Elder Hyde #1
