Hello my wonderful Family!!!

Well this week has been one for the books. It is a whole lot of crazy now with all of the new responsibilities and all of the things that I need to do! I have to do double the work now, and make sure that all of the missionaries are safe and ready to roll. I am starting to get the hang of my new assignment and at the same time help out all of the people who are trying to know the true gospel. I dont feel stressed but I have limited time now to go out and to teach all of the people that I can here in my area. It is an area that is fulll of miracles and has a really great ward as well so that helps us out a lot, but I still need to figure out a better way to get done everything that happens here. I am sure I will find the way to do it through much prayer and scripture reading, I have come to find that that is where 95% of what I need comes from is from 5 pages in the book of Mormon and a goood solid prayer in the morning and at night. My strength does not come from working out in the mornings (it would be a lie to say that I have done any in the last 8 months) but from my need to find answers to questions for my investigators and from my desire to earn my personal salvation. I think that we all need to find that personal desire or fire in our veins to drive us a step further, and to push it just a little bit harder. I never thought in my previous 18 years of life that my number one goal would be to build my spirit stronger but now it is the only thing in life that I want. I know that God loves us all but he can only trust us so far, but the harder we try the more trust and respect we gain from him. (1 Nefi 17:25) I hope that you guys can have some of these goals with you as well to push your spiritual selves a little bit more. That is my biggest desire for each one of you and for myself. Love you so much!!!!

New Assignment

Hi mama. I am sorry I dont want to be a stranger I know that you want to have joy in my successes but you know me I have never been someone who wants to be in the spotlight or just an attention hog either. I will try to be better at sharing my information, but I really just want to be careful I have just seen too many people failing and having bad experiences because of pride and I dont want to fall in it whatever I do. I mean it is the reason that the nephites were completely destroyed, and I dont really want that to happen to me. Well here is the thing about my calling. I am the financial secretary here in the Peru Lima West mission, I have to do a lot of things in this calling, I keep track of every single penny that slips through this mission. I take care of President Stauffers finances (even though he is a genius with these types of things), I have to make sure that the missionaries are working and not worried about where they are going to sleep or where they are going to eat next. According to what everyone has told me it is the second most important job in the mission, besides the assistants to President. I got a call from President late in the night and he called and said that he had a special assignment for me but that he needed someone who he knew that he could count on and someone who he could trust in every situation. There have been lots of things that have been happening here lots of calls from the area from seventies to make sure that everything is running good and that nothing is going downhill, I am not scared but they definitely try to get it through your head that if you lose money or steal or whatever you can and will be excommunicated so no pressure. Anyways I will try to give you better information next week as well but I dont know it is just a couple little things extra that I have to do now!!!

Hello family,

Well this week was a good one, we had transfers and I was the one who had to organize how everyone was going to get to their new areas and how all of them were going to have their luggage and all the fun little things like that. I also found out that Elder Castillo got changed so that was a little sad for me, I liked him a lot. He was a great friend. The good news is that my new companion is a really good guy too. He is Elder Cuenca from Ecuador, he is a really hard worker and seems like we will be able to get things done here as well. I hope that he is just as good or better, and for now it seems like my chances are pretty high. Anyways my weeks kind of mesh together, I don't remember what all I did and what all is happening so it is kinda  hard to pass the information that I don't know to you guys. But everything is good I feel happy and busy so those are the two things that should keep me on the right path and help me to understand even better what I need to do in the future. Umm not to much to report sad to say that I am a pretty normal guy now and just working hard like usual. Sorry I don' t have too much to say this week. I will write down more of my good/funny experiences to tell you all, that is one thing that I want to get better at. Anyways love you all so much keep working hard and playing hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Bacon Family,

Thank you guys for all the questions and for remembering about me. It is always so fun to hear from the people you know and love. Hope that you guys are all doing well and that life is going super well. I am going to give it all that I can to help even more people to join the church and to bless and of these wonderful people one by one. Here are the answers to your questions!!!1

I am currently learning spanish, and teaching like 7 different families about the gospel, and my favorite companion would have to be Elder Sanabria from Bolivia or Elder Castillo from Chile.

I have only eaten some weird fish and all the rest of the chicken that I haven't eaten before. I am going to come back home study, work, maybe start my family and help out everyone that I can.

We do not, that is one thing that I want to work on. I need to learn how to play an instrument. I can cook ok if I have a recipe. I have seen a good amount of people join the church on my misison. As a mission we saw 1,599 people join the church, how cool no?

Love you guys so much you all are amazing!!!!

New Year, New Changes

Here is me and my new companion Elder Castillo he is from Chile and he is the best.
Well everything is good here in peru, the earthquake didnt do anything to us it was just a little north of us. As for me everything else is good I had transfers and got switched to the area las palmeras. it is an area very different from the ones I have had. It is city and there is no sand in whatever place I go. It is a very wealthy area as well, not as humble as I am used to. I love it the same, I know that we will work hard and do all that we can to progress the work of the lord. I am super happy to be out of there but sad at the same time. I know that all changes come to help us to improve and to have better experiences but this one is going to be different from them all. I know that it will all be ok and that I will learn a lot of new things. I love you guys so much and hope that You all know that I love you. I will keep working as hard as I can for each one of you. I love the things that you have done for me and for the man that you have shaped me to be. I dont know a whole lot more than this as of now everything is still changing. My companion is Elder Castillo and he is from Chile he is 25 years old and he is the best. He is super funny energetic and willing to help in whatever oppurtunity. I love it and it will all be good later on. Love you all so much.

2nd Christmas season in Peru

President Stauffer posted these pictures from the peru lima west Christmas party
Garrett said he enjoyed the party- that was all of the information he shared about it.

The missionaries took part in the church's Light the world initiative to serve as the Savior did during the Christmas season.  Lighting the world in Peru-
Garrett served by  shining shoes on the streets in Lima

Elder Hyde was here here"by the way it's a little dusty in my area"

Ended 2017 with baptisms

hose baptisms were of the Ahuanari de águila family, I love their last name, and they are so good. They took a lot of time and a lot of work but they are just the greatest.
we were sorta able to Skype with Garrett on Christmas day only dropped 20 calls before we finally got a good connection. But we loved hearing his voice and sing his smile.Totally worth our time.
