May zona Las Palmeras conference

Hello,

Well this week was a good and hard week for us. This week was Zone conference week, we got to have our experience and teaching lesson from President and Hermana Stauffer. It was super good and we learned a ton. It was cool because we talked about all of the things that we have learned form them in these times and about all the things that we want to do different. It was a good experience.

Sadly this week Marco was not able to get baptized he was a little too deep with his friends. They were doing some bad things, thankfully him without knowing it, but he was still associated with them and the things that they were doing. Sadly it sounded like they were all going to get arrested and was going to have a big problem so he needed to go up north to avoid a lot of suspition and his friends trying to pull or drag him into it too. We are still in good communication with him and we might be able to see him a little later on and finish the job, it just depends on the papers and what all happens.

Other than that me and Elder Wells are working really hard and we are doing all that we possibly can to help the mission and to bless the lives of those that we encounter. We have difficulty leaving the offices sometimes and we are sometimes a little frustrated with the other missionaries and their various problems but we are working it out little by little and getting way better at helping people solve their own problems.

Anyways I tried to send a lot more pictures so that you guys can see a little bit about what is happening and everything that we are doing. One of those pictures was of the P-day that I had to plan, we made a fruit salad with a yogurt like danimals, and fajitas that were super tasty as well. And then a couple of the birthdays for this month. And then me and Elder Wells drew pictures of Elder Jardine and Elder Mansillla on our mangos so that was pretty funny too.

Well that is it from me. Have a swell week and enjoy everything that comes your way. Love you so much!!!!!!!

To my favorite family,

Well this week has been a really good week for me and Elder Wells. We are doing all sorts of fun things running around from place to place all the time, sharing all sorts of stories and opinions. He is a really fantastic guy, I love him to death. This week was a little bit harder for me because I didn’t get to spend a whole bunch of time in my area, I had to do lots of baptism interviews and help the missionaries with all their fun problems. You would be surprised at how many people lose money here, just this past week I had two cases of 100 soles being lost. I had to be the bad guy and tell them that they can’t reimburse all of it, that they would only receive a portion of that money, like dad has always told me ‘’Life’s not fair Princess’’. Thank you dad for your many inspiring words, I will forever be grateful for your sincerity and the simple lessons that you taught.

This week we were trying some more new things Elder Wells showed us a game called Risk that is pretty fun. I had never played before, it is a game where you try and conquer the world. You have soldiers and tanks and stuff like that and then little by little you grow your army and then tkae other peoples countries. Elder Wells before the game said that this game has been known to break friendships. He didn't lie. The only thing was that I was the one breaking the friendships, I ended up winning the very first time that I played. We also played Monopoly today, and me and elder Wells beat everyone today. So just you guys wait till I get home, I will still smoke you guys in all the games. Elder Hyde has gotten even less friendly in games he is out to win and nothing else. Just kidding... kind of.

Me and Elder Wells weren't able to work very much together this week. We were doing all that we could to get out of the offices and find more people to teach. But it was a lot harder for us I was running around helping the assistants in all that they had to do, I had to interview a couple of people this week, and then on top of that President Stauffer was super busy with interviews as well so we were trying to make sure that everything was taken care of here.

I was reading the other day about Nephi (the son of helaman) in Helaman 6 and the verse 36 caught my attention. It explains about how the spirit works within us, it says the Lord is able to pour out his spirit upon those who are willing to believe in his words and the easiness that it is transferred to them. This then led me to wonder, “What makes it easier or me more willing to believe in Christ?” I think that the easy answer is when he blesses me or when I feel his love, but I want to have firm faith not something that wavers becuase I know that the flesh is weak. So I was wondering what can I do to have a firm faith that can get to be unshaken and something that won't fail on me. One of those that came to mind is in 2 Nephi 31:20 that we always have to feast upon the words of Christ. Then another scripture came to mind that is found in Jacob 4:6 that says that we study the prophets and obtain many revelations. Which also helped me to remember the promise that was given in general conference saying that we need to study the conference talks before the next general conference and make sure that we are preparing ourselves becuase we are entering a time where it will be really hard, or almost impossible to receive revelation if we are not following strong on the path of righteousness. We need to have the Spirit with us in all times, or we won't survive spiritually. I hope that you guys can take the challenge again and that you can stay strong on this path. I love you guys so much and hope that you all can continue firm and strong in whatever you put your minds too I love you guys so much!!!!!!!!

Hello My wonderful family,

Well I am getting to the point where it feels like time is moving so fast that it is not even worth counting it. I feel like I just write you guys all the time, but it is because my days are passing so incredibly fast. Well this week we had a lot of fun things happen. Elder Wells and I had to help 6 people get rabies shots (I have no idea how I didn't get bitten in Pachacutec because there were way more dogs than there are people).

We also had to make a couple of trips to the bank to a Place a little further away to do some reimbursements, and we also had to say goodbye to one of good friends Elder Morocho.

That was a sad day, he is a good guy full of energy and always happy. I don't think that we ever had a dull moment with him. We all went to say goodbye along with President and Sister Stauffer. We bought 3 dozen donuts and shared them while we spent the last couple minutes together.

This week we had a stellar P-day I thought. I had the priveledge to plan it, so I decided we were going to do something a little different this week. So me and Elder Wells went out early today after our cleaning and bought tortillas, chicken bell peppers, onions, avacado, lime, lots of fruit and other fun things. Then we went and played soccer as Priesthood and then the Sisters came a lilttle bit later and we started to up a game of signs (a game I need to show you when I get back), Then we all got together and made fajitas and a fruit salad and guacamole with chips. It was so nice to have mexican food again I was so happy.

We also played a game of monopoly in the night times. I have played Monopoly 4 times in my life, and three of them have been in the mission. I am on a pretty good win streak though, I am 3-3 in the mission so that has helped me to make me think that I need to be a business man when I grow up. haha. Other than that pretty calm. We only have one investigator progressing good he will be for this saturday. Pray hard for him his name is Marco Via Nuevo. I love you guys so much. Have a great week!!!!!!!!!!

soccer+fajitas = a stellar P-day

HI FAMILY,

Well this week was full of some surprises. Well I changed areas... I didn't get changed from my asignment I am still the financial secretary I just got moved to a different ward. The funniest greatest part is where I got moved and who my companion is. I was moved to Covida which is like 4-5 minutes away from Palmeras. The best part is who my companion is. He isn't a latino, he is from Utah, he is a good friend already, and he is just a super great guy in general. His name is Elder Wells. How funny is that. Now there are going to be two gringos together in the middle of a huge southern american city. It is super weird because we can talk english or spanish and we both understand it as well. It has already been super fun talking and getitng to know each other even better. I have been around Elder Wells for like a year just chasing him from zone to zone and know we are companions.

Well I am excited for this transfer. I am a little sad that President split me and Elder Cuenca up but I think that it will help the offices to have the unity and the blessings that we need. I know that this is going to help me to work even harder.

Well there isn't a whole lot more time to write, but everything is good. I am still getting to know my area and still getting to know the members and everything as well, so I will let you know a little bit more next week. Well I hope that this gave you a little bit more ideas about what is happening with me and how we are working down here in Peru. Love you guys so much!!!!!

Cuidense mucho,
Elder Hyde

Hello my wonderful family,

Well this week has been a pretty good week for me. It was a good week for spirituality and a good time to recharge my spiritual batteries as well. This week we were able to go to the temple and we were able to take some pretty fun pictures and we were able to grow closer as a Zone. We are a fun Group we are able to have our fun and still get a lot of the work done that we need to get done. We also got to go and listen to conference and learn about all the new changes and the crazy things that are going to be put in play. It is crazy to think that some of the things that have been around for so long can disappear in just one day, but that is how revelation works. This week we were able to work harder with some of our investigators to try and to help them to receive the revelation that they need but it was hard for a lot of them to come because it was a holiday for them and most of them had left. But we are still working hard to try and bring them closer together as families. This conference was a pretty special one though because the Gringos watched it with President Stauffer in his office. We were able to talk a little about all the changes and about all of the fun things that are going to be happening, and learn from him as welll. It was definitely inspired and it is something that I am not going to forget very easy. I know that if we put in place this promise that president Nelson gave us that we will be blessed but that we need to be diligent and we need to follow with exact obedience. One of the things that will help us all is studying the conference talks until the next conference. It will help alll of us to receive all that we need and guide our families where they need to go. I hope that you can all put them in practice and do the things that he wishes of you. I love you guys and hope that we can be faithful, obedient, and diligent in the things he has given us. Keep up the good work.
